New study found 9 percent decline in youth drug use

Also in today's news was an article on illicit drug use in America. The news about teen drug use was particularly good:

For people ages 12-17, there was a 9 percent drop in illicit drug use
between 2002 and 2004, the federal government announced.

Unfortunately, there was a slight increase in binge drinking for the same group.

How does this square with what you have been seeing and hearing about our local youth?
